More dragonflies for me to chase - yay! Love these covers so much! My favourite scene by far was making a quill and ink out of ingredients in the wild - writing on a blade of grass!

It is rare I enjoy the sequel more than I did the first in a series, but Simmons finds the perfect groove in this book! I can't wait for more!
I love the concept surrounding dragonflies. It's what drew me to this book in the first place - from the cover (yes I am a cover shopper and I really like this one)

The world building, although brilliant, was a little wordy for me in places. There were quite a few places where I felt as if I was reading a well-crafted sonnet. Of course, Poetry isn't a bad thing, it can be quite enchanting. It may sound strange but I may have lost a bit of the story from listening to the smoothness of the show more words.

This would be an excellent choice to read in a youth group or class room where the participants fully discussed chapters as they read them.

Such a dramatic work with plenty of strong visuals and excellent worldbuilding. From the beginning, the reader is pulled into a world of corruption and battle. The idea of a dragonfly society gave it a fresh and unique feeling from other fantasy novels as we follow the main characters on a quest to find themselves in a world designed to destroy them.
After the adventures of book one, this book plunges us into action and suspense. The Enchiridion has been taken and Dax and his friends are in bad shape. In order to protect himself and those he loves, he must be the one to go and retrieve the book…no matter what the cost.

This book moved along faster than the first installment with action happening in just about every chapter. I felt as if we really got to know our characters in ways that we didn’t before. If you’re a fan of fast show more paced fantasy, this is definitely the series for you. show less
