“It was raining in the forest; winter had quickly come. / Snow fell all night long; it was dark and very glum.” But this book is bright and beautiful, with smooth rhymes, begging to be read aloud, nice rhythm, and a pleasing story about a cold deer searching for a hat that might cover his antlers.

The pictures are a delight in this book too, with the hand-made look of crayons, fun expressions, warm lines, and none that shiny coldness of computer images. Meet an elephant, a rhino and more show more as this dear deer asks all his friends for help. Finally, Oh Dear Said The Deer proves to be a tale of true friendship, showing anything is possible, and a frozen deer can have fun in the snow after all.

Disclosure: I bought this when it was free.

I loved this story. A three handed monster mother keeps cleaning up her found handed monster son’s room. Yet he demands she read him a story. She finally tells him she can’t there is so much to do to clean his room there is time for only one story. The monster child knows if he doesn’t clean up his room before bedtime there will be no more stories. A great way to show kids the importance of cleaning up their rooms.
Uncle jake is grouchy, and he has a problem: despite the fact he enjoys his solitude, the whole family comes to visit him on his birthday.

This year on his birthday there was a football game
Watching a rerun just wouldn’t be the same.

As always I find great pleasure in the colorful illustrations that bring out the humor in the light verse of this children’s book. You can see his cheeks being pinched, with great glee, by a family member. This is a moment every child can relate to!

He already show more had a headache; he hadn’t rested a bit,
When his aunt pinched his cheek he nearly had a fit!

To add to his anger, his sandwich had been eaten, and he must find the culprit, his puppy:

Jake shook his fist and yelled: Don’t ever do that again!
You’re a bother! Now let me watch the game in my den.”

Will he ever grow comfortable with enjoying the birthday gifts and good wishes? Find out, get this book!
Five stars.

Who is the witchiest witch in all the lands? This sweet story told in rhyme about a witch with a big nose, a wart, a crooked back. She looks the way a witch should look and she is quite pleased with herself, most of the time, except that sometimes she wishes she were more like her neighbors, the beautiful fairies. Terrific illustrations highlight this story of being happy with who you are.

The over all message is great. I do have a small problem with a beauty contest being the way this witch show more gains acceptance when she obviously has got qualities unique to her. show less
