- Charlotte Adams (1793-1873) was an early to mid-nineteenth-century English children's author, noted for her didactic fiction featuring child servants, and her school stories for boys. Her story, The Etonian (1841), was one of the first works of fiction to be set at Eton.
Born Charlotte Priscilla Coker in 1793, Adams was the daughter of John Coker of Bicester in Oxfordshire. In 1826 she became the third wife of Adjutant Judge John Adams, and stepmother to his three sons, including authors William and H.C. Adams. She and Adams also had a son together, the lawyer and novelist Charles Warren Adams.
