A cellist on a musical quartet has her tour cancelled at the last moment due to illness of one of the musicians.
Kate Randall had bee seeing environmental journalist Michael Lester and their relationship had been stormy. He is also a photographer and had taken photos of one politician who felt the photo could be damaging.
When Kate goes to Michael's cottage to break up, he strikes her and then somehow they decide to have sex one more time.
Later, she finds Michael's body. Someone had killed him show more and she gets some of his blood on her.
Police view her as a main suspect and she decides to escape so she can prove her innocence.
I found the actions of the main character unrealistic and not consistent with her personality or position as a cellist in a musical group.
I didn't care for the character of the main protagonist and felt no sympathy for her. show less
