So much fun! Hans Solo meets Firefly, this is a great space opera romp through hostile stars with monstrous aliens (who were once human) in hot pursuit. It reminded me how much I like competent, quiet heroes, and how fun character development right alongside and through action sequences can be.
We all have breasts!
As I write this review there are already 325 on the Amazon site so there isn't too much detail I can add. I am willing to give space opera a lot of leeway but there are lots of things that bug me about this book. The single most annoying feature is the LONG lectures at the beginning of each chapter. If I want a pseudo-Randian lesson I can watch Fox, thank you.
Other reviewers mention Mr. Welch's views on women. They are so archaic that I wonder if he was attempting a show more parody of late-career Heinlein. But it is pretty hard to tell what is intended because overall the prose is pretty sloppy.
Some reviewers complain about Mr. Welch's physics, I'll complain about his biology. The nanos that Rex uses to boost Ms Chakruja's lactation would work equally well on himself and on the child's father (parent-child bonding opportunity here) and the whole crew could have been pumping milk between battles. Now that would be an interesting story twist!

Before we get into the review, let’s turn on some mood music. *turns on 70’s Greek god porn music*
The God’s Day to Die is an interesting story with… a lot of sexual scenes, but not enough to make it into a porno, though most of it was tasteful enough to make it okay enough. Though it tends to get annoying because with each page turn, I found myself in another one of those damn scenes. I do love the action scenes, especially because gods wielding guns was a good touch.
I have to admit, show more I started reading this book on Monday and actually ended up finishing it just yesterday (Saturday)... (More via website) show less
The Gods' Day to Die
By: David Welch
Narrated by: Scott Merriman
I really enjoyed this book. If you like Greek gods and the possiblity that they could be alive today, then this is your kind of book. Our man guy meets a gorgeous gal, of course she is gorgeous, she is a Greek god. But soon she is on the run for her live. Seems someone is picking off the last of the gods. Really exciting with wonderful characters, good plot, and lots of action.
Narrator is awesome. He performs the voices and keeps show more the action and emotions perfect. show less
