This strongly Eurocentric book, now over 100 years old, says more about what it omits than what it covers. It has some amazing colour plates. My copy has a handwritten inscription which states, "Presented to James Wilson by "The Sir Garnet Wolseley Chapter" Imperial Order Daughters of the Empire in appreciation of the excellency of his essay on "The British Navy". 23rd May 1914
I read the 1908 edition, but imagine the text, though not the introduction, has remained the same. It is a very respectful account of the conqueror of Canada's life.
