What did women do who were opposed to the war effort particulary in the nacent nuclear age? Why appear before HUAAC in pearls and white gloves. These 'troublemakers' appeared before Joe McCarthy's House Unamerican activities committee as the quintessential American homemaker with baby buggies and looking like Jane Wyatt in Father Knows Best. the men didn't know what to do with them.
Absolutely wonderful book about the tenacity and courage of standing up to the McCarthy machine. A great read show more and highly recommended. show less
