I love Christmas music and I think Josh Groban's voice is particularly suited to the traditional songs found on this CD. I also like that the emphasis is on making a beautiful arrangement of the music that suits a smooth and confident baritone voice. I didn't think there was a bad track, but I do certainly have favorites. These are Silent Night, Little Drummer Boy, It Came upon a Midnight Clear, and O Come All Ye Faithful. New to me were Thankful and Petit Papa Noël both of which I show more enjoyed.

It you like Josh Groban or Christmas music, I think you will enjoy this recording. If you like both, I am sure you will.

On his second album, Josh Groban's voice is rich and expressive. Over half of the songs are not in English; sadly the insert provides no translations for those lyrics. Translations can be tracked down; Google was my friend. Since there are only lyrics, I see no difference between the CD and the downloaded version.

My favorites from this CD are the fluid Oceano, the romantic When You Say You Love Me, and the classic You Raise Me Up.

If you like Josh Groban, you should certainly have this show more recording in your collection. If you enjoy solo male vocalists, you should certainly explore Josh Groban and this is a good introduction. show less
Only his fourth studio album, NOEL finds Josh Groban already tackling that canonical mainstay of the adult contemporary singer, the Christmas album. As always, NOEL is a masterfully performed set, balanced neatly between pop standards and the more operatic material that showcases Groban's roots. Interestingly, he sounds best on the most familiar holiday standards, like "I'll Be Home For Christmas" and Mel Torme's "The Christmas Song," both of which he invests with casual, jazzy phrasing, show more providing a welcome disinclination for the usual Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby homages that many other young singers in the style fall into. Even this early into his career, Groban clearly has a deeply held sense of who he is as a singer and interpreter, and this lovely collection is proof that he's one of the most exciting adult contemporary stars to appear in ages.
