Katherine Sully’s version of David and Goliath is an accurate child’s picture book version of the events in the Bible of the story of the encounter between David and Goliath.
The pictures are bright and colourful adding interest to the story and helping young children to better understand it. There are activities at the back of the book which require the child to look back at the story and enhance the child’s understanding and memory of the story also.
I think that this book is a great show more way to introduce children to the events in the Bible. This is a book they will read again and again. I gave it a rating of 5 stars out of 5.
Thank you to the publishers via Edelweiss for providing a copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review. A positive opinion was not required. All thoughts are my own.

Sully created the perfect bedtime story for children two to six or seven within this book of "Where, Oh Where Is Huggle Buggle Bear." Within the story a little boy is trying to go to bed, but he can't seem to find his favorite stuffed animal teddy bear. The story takes the reader through his search for the teddy bear and the bear's friends by checking places like the kitchen since he had a snack there or checking the bath because the little boy needs to take a bath before bed. At the end the show more little boy grows sleepy and heads to his room. Once in his room he finds all his stuffed animals asleep on his bed. There is no message to this book since it's main purpose is to help children be put into bed. The rhyming that is in this book creates almost a lullaby for children to get sleepy to. Whenever I read this book to children they are asleep within ten minutes. show less
These Busy Builder books are more than just a book, but a way for children to interact, learn and play while reading. Each book includes a fact book, a 3-D building, and 48 model pieces. Think legos but instead cardboard pieces that build everything from diggers to construction equipment. These kits are full of fun and will keep kids busy for hours. They are easily transportable as everything fits inside the box (if the things they build are taken apart) and it closes with a velcro.
The book show more is a heavy paperback that fits right inside the box. Each page details different equipment including the vehicles and buildings on the site that are necessary. The tools, employees, and tasks needed to get the job done are explained.
Then kids can take it to the next level and build what they just read. By opening the box, they can set the scene with roads and a school that they are building.
Multiple pieces are included to build vehicles and other necessary parts to play and act out the scene. There are even little cardboard people and all kinds of construction equipment to build.
When your child is done playing, everything can be taken apart and placed back inside the box for storage or travel. I think these kits are awesome and would make excellent gifts for preschool-aged kids through second grade. The words in the books would be too hard for the preschool and kindergartners to read themselves, but the pictures would help them figure out the steps to build and play.
These are a nice size and since they are made like a book, they would fit nicely on a bookshelf for storage. They are very sturdy and would hold up to numerous occasions of playing and travel. I wish our boys would have had something like this when they were younger. I think these are a must-give for Christmas! show less

This book talks about the different farm animals that can fly and lag an egg. Pig feels left out because he can't do either of those things. Pig ends up finding an egg and thinks he laid the egg. He then takes care of the egg until it hatches twice. The egg of course isn't his, but an egg with a caterpillar in it. This is where I have a little bit of an issue with this book, because it teaches children incorrect facts about animals. Since it is fiction however, the teacher could take this show more opportunity to teach his/her students about some of the genres of literature if they haven't discussed that in the class yet. One of the themes of this book is that is important to be kind to all of the world's creatures. It is important to take care of all of your children. This might also be a good opportunity for the teacher to explain different types of families and how blood doesn't make a family. It is whoever takes care of you and who raises you. show less
