An informal but wonderful discographical essay on Wagner's music, emphasizing items available on Columbia Records. Considering that the Second World War was raging, this little book is particularly interesting (A) because it avoids the propagandistic and controversial aspects of Wagnerism, and (B) mentions artists whose careers were affected by the war, perhaps most obviously Franz von Hoesslin. This volume is uniform with others on Mozart, JS Bach et al.
