Gale Bernhardt was born in 1958. She has a BS degree from Colorado State University. She has instructed or coached athletes since 1974 and is certified as an Elite Coach by USA Cycling and a Level III Coach by USA Triathlon. Gale is the Chairperson for the National Coaching Committee for USA show more Triathlon. She is also a USA Triathlon World Cup coach. Bernhardt is a regular columnist for several print and online magazines including Triathlete, Cyclist, Insider, Runner and Women, Inside Triathlon, Rocky Mountain Sports and Fitness and the VeloNews Gear Guide. She has been interviewed as an endurance exercise authority by numerous magazines such as Outside, Runner's World, Bicycling, Her Sports, USA Today, Muscle and Fitness, HERS for Women, Newsday and Cooking Light. Berland is a successful author. Her books include The Female Cyclist: Gearing Up a Level, Training Plans for Multisport Athletes, and Triathlon Training Basics.
