Just fantastic. This is the first of (I think) six volumes where various actors contribute an essay on a role they've played for the Royal Shakespeare Company. I'll certainly read more of these. The actors have free rein to discuss their interpretation of the role, issues with the director, how plays shift in different spaces and different audiences, and so on. This first volume comes from 1985, and it's especially fun for those of us who regard that generation as the greatest Shakespearean show more actors. Names like Patrick Stewart, Sinead Cusack, Michael Pennington, Gemma Jones, Roger Rees... a privilege to hear their thoughts. show less
