Wales and the Wars of the Roses
H.T. Evans
I was very disappointed in this. I expected it to be an entertaining history of the title subject, but it was merely an exceedingly dry, boring, military history. Didn’t learn much at all, unfortunately, except that the “roses” referred to the white “rose” emblem of Lancater and the red “rose” emblem of York (or maybe the other way around), the two houses battling for the throne. I also learned that much of Wales’ show more history is told by “bards” in poetry form (not that this book was formatted that way; it was just mentioned).
That’s about it. I read about a fifth of it, and barely skimmed through the rest. What a dud. show less
