Its book jacket calls "Ti-Coyo and His Shark" an immoral fable for sophisticated people. It has been on my bookshelf for many years, surviving culling as we've moved. I remember a 1940ish conversation with a friend who roundly denounced it (and me for praising it!)I reread it after watching "Life of Pi,"and was as pleased with it as I had been long ago.

Ti-Coyo is the brave and resourceful son of disadvantaged parents. His relationship with the shark is unusual but convincing. What they show more accomplish may or not be ethical but it is epic, and I stand by my original appreciation of it. show less
