Ashley Eckstein

I was interested in this because I love Her Universe and how it’s brought Fangirl life to the mainstream. This book is part memoir and part self-help book. I am not really the target audience being a 40-something Mom. It’s written for young adults and probably even middle-grade girls, but the story is interesting and inspirational and the artwork by Ashley Taylor is divine! If you’re not familiar with Ashley Eckstein, she’s the voice of Ahsoka Tano from Star Wars Clone Wars and the show more founder of Her Universe, a fandom fashion company for girls and women. When you see Star Wars t-shirts for girls everywhere you turn, it’s because Ashley fought long and hard to get Lucasfilm to license rights for a line of clothing just for female fans. This was a really quick book, worth reading if you’re a Fangirl like me to appreciates being included in the Star Wars fandom world! 4/5 stars ⭐️ show less

A heroine-type who's not just another white person - check.
A non-stereotypical hero role, illustrating that it's 100% okay to be a supportive person and still do heroic acts - check!
Teaches a wide array of lessons and values - check.

Verdict - LOVE IT!

I cried. Disney related things always get to me, and Ashley has an amazing story.
