A thoughtful and sometimes puzzling book, with a dreamlike feel. A slice of life in reverse, with moments of real tragedy, but told in such a way that there was a noticeable emotional distance between the reader and the characters. I flagged a few pages of especially beautiful prose.
Reads like the teenage journal of someone destined for an MFA program.

I'm willing to believe that much was lost in translation, but all the two star Latvian reviews on Goodreads make me think that it's not very good in the original either.
Everyone should read Open Letter books. This is no exception.
