The Life of Hans Christian Anderson was a serendipity find. What a wonderful biography. Toksvig is a biographer of the very best sort. He tells a powerful story of a frustrated genius who triumphs in the end in a narrative-driven style written in excellent and clear English. A triumph of biographical art .A superb and rewarding biography. Contains illustrations, with some drawings by HCA himself.
