Wonderful. Even my old eyes could make out the details enough to play the 'hidden object' puzzle. I do admit, however, that I just paged through the book, because it would have been a bit of a strain. I would absolutely adored it when I was a child, however.
And the back matter is wonderful. Lots of a variety of nature-themed activity prompts. And excellent bibliography. Highly recommended to families who understand how important it is to get outside and move in the fresh air, and to share show more our planet with critters and plants.
As I didn't quite read it all, I'm giving it a dnf mark, but rating highly despite my aversion to rating dnf's. December 2021. show less

I had mixed feelings about this story. The idea that the parents would send their misbehaving child away to live on an uninhabited island and then leave her there because she did not learn a lesson was rather disturbing. If I look at it through the eyes of a child that it is a fun adventure where a young girl teaches a gorilla how to be a gentleman and she has fun with various animals then it is a cute story. The illustrations are cute and colourful. When the animals all work together to show more build a communal home in a tree the lesson of co-operation can be stressed.

Synergy: Seasons
Seasons are a way to divide a year on Earth based on changes in daylight, weather, and living organisms. The seasons in the Northern and Southern Hemisphere are different because of the Earth’s axial tilt. Although traditionally divided into four seasons of spring, summer, autumn, and winter, some areas of the world recognize fewer or more seasons.
