A crew of five men and one woman land on Khaton, a strange world inhabited by giant, unfamiliar insects, strange plants, and a human population of only women. Told primarily through the perspective of misogynistic straight men, this book lost its potential to explore a female-only fantasy world through a feminist lens. The natives of Khaton are described through objectifying language, seem frustratingly clueless and never really develop in three-dimensional characters. The wandering plot, show more which honestly feels like it was inspired by the author's namesake, not only failed to draw me in, it also was marred with gratuitous sexual violence. Would not recommend. show less
