About the Author
Val Mulkerns was born in Dublin, Ireland on February 14, 1925. Before becoming an author, she worked as a clerical officer in the civil service and a teacher. Her first novel, A Time Outworn, was published in 1951. Her second book, A Peacock Cry, was published in 1954. From 1952 to 1954, she was an show more associate editor of the literary periodical The Bell. She put her literary career on hold to raise her family. Her collection of stories, Antiquities, was published in 1978. Her other books included Very Like a Whale, Memory and Desire, and Friends with the Enemy. She died March 10, 2018 at the age of 93.
