- Short biography
- Ivy Kellerman Reed was well-known in Esperanto circles for her translation of Winnie-the-Pooh. An accomplished linguist with four academic degrees, she worked in Latin, Greek, Sanskrit, Persian, and half a dozen modern languages including Esperanto, to which she devoted nearly sixty years. Her translation of Shakespeare's As You Like It was performed at the Sixth Universal Congress of Esperanto in Washington in 1910 -- the first Esperanto-language performance of a work by Shakespeare in the United States.
