This view of village life offers fascinating insights into the lives of the workers of ancient Egypt. I have used it in my classes on Ancient Egyot, and the students are always amazed at the things they learn by reading about the workers' lives. Well written and credible, Village Life in Ancient Egypt provides a more nuanced view of life than that of too many other works, which focus on the lives of the pharoahs or the elites. These workers were no mere peasants, but artisans, doctors, show more bakers and builders fulfilling important skilled labor roles. show less
