Heard about this when it as first published and though I love Thoreau I thought, meh. But then I saw the recent PBS documentary about Thoreau in which they talk about his Kalendar so I figured I’d borrow it from the library. And I am so glad I did! What he was trying to do is fascinating and the essays about it by Case are interesting and lovely. There are also lots of quotes from his journal and a great bibliography.
