The Adventures of Mr Polkington (Black Shuck Shadows) by Tina Rath
This little book is an absolute treasure. The eponymous Mr Polkington is an unassuming haberdasher who on occasion finds himself thrust into supernatural combat. There are moments of charming humour and moments of horror. I'm reminded of some of Chesterton's short stories (although a little less fantastical).
