I loved this book for many reasons. For one, as I read it, I read it as a song. I didn't know until I looked back to the front page, but there are music notes along with the words. I thought this was really cool because the book was short but introduced the Jewish holiday, Hanukkah in a simple but informational way. Throughout the story, they describe different aspects of Hanukkah, and pictures that match along with the text. For example, when they described the latkes they eat on the show more holiday, they showed a picture of them, as well as pictures of dreidels when they talked about playing with them. This book was a good book for children who are just learning about the holiday because it describes the food, the dreidel, and the menorah, and just basic parts of the holiday without describing it in detail. The pictures were helpful in figuring out what the text was about, since they are describing terms that may be new to a child, the pictures fully described the text. On the pages, even though they didn't talk about it, they were drawing pictures of menorahs and jewish stars. The boy had a yamaka on, along with all the men. If you wanted to teach more about Hanukkah, the pictures definitely include a lot of information that the text does not.
The overall message was that the holiday Hanukkah is a fun, exciting holiday where family gathers together to eat and celebrate. This book encourages students to appreciate their family and culture, and reading about different holidays can open their perspectives. show less

Right from the start this book had me giggling. The cover is fun and appealing. The illustrations are active and engaging. I love that they all end up together at the end. I think this rhyming book will be a favorite in my elementary library.

This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. It's a beautiful book, with very engaging artwork. For kids who love dogs, or those who love vehicles, I think it would be very well received. There's not much in the way of story here, but it's great for learning the names of different types of vehicles, or just looking at the pictures.

Each page features a dog and its ride. A pickup, a minivan, a convertible, an eighteen-wheeler, a fire truck, a jeep, a police car, a sports car, a scooter, a small car, an RV. Each dog loves their ride and tells you about it in fun rhymes. All vehicles are headed to a dog's favorite place-a dog park. This book would be great for a preschool story time and definitely for anyone who loves dogs. show more The pictures are colorful and fun. Each car takes up most of the page spread and details are there to explore and talk about in each picture. Different breeds of dogs are used as well. It's a book that every library should have. show less
