Hones, warm, funny and realistic as Jill shares her faith, her experiences as a mother to lively teenagers, and her adjustments to a new and alien culture (The U.S.). Jill was born in Liverpool, England and graduated from Homerton College, Cambridge. In 1970 she, her husband Stuart and their three children moved to Wisconsin.
Feeling burned out? Unfulfilled? Drained? Jill Briscoe offers hope and comfort for those times in life when we feel empty and tired. She draws lessons from Bible characters who often felt the same way: Leah was ugly and unloved, Hannah found midlife depressing and barren, the Prodigal Son ended up in a pigsty. With wit and candor, Briscoe provides spiritual refreshment and renewal when we are running on empty.
The premise is that God calls us to be 'Queen' of our husband's hearts, our children's hearts, our workplace, and God himself. Nothing to disagree with, really. Might be useful to women feeling discouraged or useless, but I didn't find anything new in it, or even particularly thought-provoking.

It's not a bad book. It's readable, and well-written. But it felt like a run-of-the-mill 1980s typical Christian book, supposedly inspirational and encouraging to women... but in fact not saying very show more much. show less
What do you do when the storm clouds of life surround you—and you can’t see the silver lining? Where do you turn when God feels distant? Exploring truths from the book of Job, Jill Briscoe addresses the tough issues involved in the collision of affliction and faith.
