I like Patterson and Peanuts so this recalls both well. It’s impressive how much Webb mines out of a near singular premise and setting, though plenty of comics could probably be accused of the same. Repetitive punchlines abound. Usually to compensate there are side characters we might spend time with but there’s just the three here: the poet, the pigeon, and the park bench. We see little of the world in his nice drawings but it enhances the poetic atmosphere.
A simply delightful series of comic strips that journal the optimistic life of 20-something Todd Webb. The comics are so simple and refreshing. So positive, it's a huge inspiration to create my own comic strip. He shows that taking something that's so simple as everyday life can be very entertaining and enjoyable. It's not dark and gloomy like so many other journal-based comic strips. This is very likeable, charming and sweet.
