4.5 starts, really. The story grabbed me, I couldn't put it down. However, I found the heroine's motivations/thought processes very confusing and garbled during the crisis phase of the story, and the excessive effort needed to make sense of them motivates the half-star downgrade.
On a reread things seem more sensible.
The Legacy (Rivers Wilde Book 1) by Dylan Allen

They say opposites attract, but what happens when hearts get in the way? The Legacy was my introduction to the true meaning of fire. Dylan Allen emits mega volts of electricity with her brand of chemistry. Hayes knows how to be an alpha but it takes the love of a good woman to show him that he could be so much more. Confidence is the conscience he needs but is scared to acknowledge. Hayes is the passion she seeks but doesn't know how to show more accept. In a world of contradictions this odd pairing makes sense. Fire and Ice has nothing on a King determined to claim his queen. show less
Beth/Liz and Carter story is full of love, sacrifice, angst and just heartbreak which makes it an amazing start to a new trilogy, their story overcoming tragedy, loss and heartbreak will have you twisting in your seat. It captivates you from the start and I can't wait to see what follows. Dylan Allen did an amazing job with this story, I am absolutely immersed in what will happen next.
This started pretty well with the heroine, Addie, living in London as a lawyer to escape the scandal surrounding her father, who absconded with millions of dollars in a fraudulent scheme. She meets Simon, a rising architect who has his own family issues. Almost immediately, there's instant lust which isn't my favorite trope, but I wanted to see where the family issues for the H/h settled out.
And they just sputtered with no real resolution or at least an explanation as to what happened with show more the father or Simon's sister. The writing was okay and it's a fairly short book, but I would have preferred more explanations of the issues and fewer sex scenes. show less
