Did you remember to turn your clock back before going to bed last night? In this story, Pooh doesn't and spends the morning wondering why his friends are blowing him off. Christopher Robin sets him right, but poor Piglet drops out of the story having been screwed over by Pooh's forgetfulness. Some effort should have been made to set that right.

(My Pooh Project: I love Winnie the Pooh, and so does my wife. Having a daughter gave us a chance to indoctrinate her into the cult by buying and reading her every Pooh book we came across. How many is that? I’m going to count them this year by reading and reviewing one every day and seeing which month I finally run out. Track my progress here:

Pooh wakes up one morning and sees fog outside his window. Thinking it must be a cloud tumbled down from above, he rushes out to warn his friends that the sky is falling.

This Chicken Little homage follows the creaky old Pooh story formula that I always complain about -- Pooh wakes up and solves a problem by visiting all his friends one by one and then celebrating the solution with a party -- but gosh darn if it doesn't work here for once. I especially like the prosaic shrug of an ending. The spot-on art helps.

Convinced the pot of gold at the end of a rainbow might contain golden honey, Pooh wanders into the forest and gets lost. Fortunately, he remembers a good rule Christopher Robin told him in such an event, and stays put until he is found.

A simple lesson is delivered in a direct but charming manner.

Eeyore is having a sad Valentine's Day because he thinks he has received no Valentines. But of course that's not the case and once the misunderstanding has been cleared up all the Pooh friends end up at one of those parties Pooh writers throw in when they can think of no other way to end a Pooh book. It's like the Pooh version of "and they all lived happily ever after."
