I had to debate the existence of "Jolly Robin" in live debate once, and this was a major pillar in my argument. If RH did exist, the bulk of possible references refer to a person who was alive not in the Times of Richard and John, but instead covered the periods of late Edward I, all of Edward II and on into Edward III. It makes more sense to me. Also, the first references to RH came from the 1370's about the right time period for "Acts he did this day remembered with advantages." So read it, and avoid the Kevin Costner movie.… (more)
