I'm glad Brandy is reclaiming her life and giving her own perspective. There are some areas or sections I wanted to know more about, or that seemed skimmed over, but not bad overall.

I'm glad she cleared the room with that Wanya business. His Breakfast Club interview is HORRID to this day.

The memoir is very reflective, and you can read that she's being kinder to herself. It doesn't revel in mess, and no, it doesn't tell what's on the famous Whitney note.

I was surprised by the background of show more Monica and Brandy's relationship. According to Brandy, they have been much closer than the media would depict. show less
Enjoyed listening to Brandy's A new moon as she takes you on a journey from her young days as a child prodigy actor in her own sitcom to becoming the star that she is today. Also covers the challenges associated with being a young black woman in the film, tv and music industry as well as the pressure of having to be better than your young self as you get older. Brandy has remained true to her herself, her family, her upbringings and her craft which we can all respect and learn from. The show more music snippets were original versions of her music which was a nice bonus. Well worth the listen thanks Audible for another great W&M offering. show less
Phases: A Memoir

I Picked Up This Book Because: Memoirs are my jam

Media Type: Audiobook
Source: R Public Library
Dates Read: 4/20/26 - 4/22/26
Rating: 3.5 Stars
Narrator(s): Brandy

I love memoirs because I love seeing things that I’ve experienced through different eyes but also learning about a whole different life. And this really only fulfilled one of those needs. it was 1000% her world growing up then in entertainment. There is little to no commentary about the world at large. We do learn a show more lot about her career but this book was so talked about that It didn’t feel new by the time I got my hands on the book. show less
