Here's a curiosity: my book does not have the title "If This House Could Talk" on the cover, but does on the title page. The cover has the same format as this, but the photographs are of the houses, not the people.

In any case, it's a lovely book. The homes are beautifully photographed, and there are serious essays about each. The homes discussed are quite varied, from a plantation to an underground railroad house, from the Biltmore Estate to the Lower East Side Tenement Museum.
