In my opinion Chadwick the Crab is a great book for children to learn the big idea of reaching for their dreams. I enjoyed this book because of the creative dialogue and detailed illustrations. The creative dialogue between Chadwick and his bay and shore friends helps this story seem engaging and fun for readers of all ages. The detailed illustrations help to reiterate the dialogue and help younger readers understand what is going on with clues. The story is about Chadwick the Crab and his show more dream to live in the aquarium instead of having to go to the bottom of the bay during the winter. Chadwick and his friend Esmerelda are talking when Esmerelda and him end up on a boat to go to Baltimore to be sold to the local restaurant. Chadwick’s bird friends build an escape ladder for the two crabs. When the crab’s escape the birds fly them over the aquarium when snap, the ladder breaks. Chadwick debates his decision to go back to the bay with Esmerelda or become a big star within the Aquarium. show less
Chadwick is a happy Chesapeake Bay blue crab who enjoys a wide circle of friends - quiet Orville Oyster, Mastilda (a fussy, near-sighted egret), Toulouse the French Canada Goose, etc.
