I'm afraid this book might be considered politically incorrect these days, although it was one of my favorite books as a young child. It pokes fun at a very naive little black boy, although I like to think that it's all in good fun and that you could substitute his race for any other. His speech patterns, however, make his race and social standing apparent. This is only one of his misadventures in a series of similar books. I have a newer version of this one that depicts him less harshly. show more Epaminondas has often been compared to Black Sambo and is named after a very famous ancient Greek general.
