A mess can make...
...a meal, a cozy fort, a masterpiece of art, and so much more.
Two creative sisters spend a day together, making joyful messes together.
Some rhyme makes this an excellent read-aloud, and the illustrations are warm and full of rich colors and detail.
With the same characters, and same lovely cadence, as What Can A Mess Make?, While We Wait shows a mother and two daughters going around town doing errands, and finding ways to occupy themselves when there's time to wait, like at the outdoor market: "Bucket drummer / makes a beat. / While we wait, / we move our feet" and, later, at home, "Calls to make / and food to cook. / While we wait, / we read a book." The front endpaper shows a kitchen scene, with a to-do list on the fridge, which show more provides an outline for the book. show less
This book would be great for primary grades, especially for children who enjoy more interactive or hands on activities. This is a fun story that walks readers through the jobs on a construction site. It is full of mechanical vocabulary and real world tasks. This is a very entertaining book and would be best enjoyed by a window or with a flashlight so the reader can see through the "x-ray" pages.
What can you spot at the airport today? Shine a light behind the page and see … From the airport staff who X-ray the baggage and check passports, to the pilots who fly the planes, each page-turn takes you behind the scenes of an exciting plane trip. With well over 200,000 copies of the series sold, we are thrilled with our latest Shine-A-Light books. Author Carron Brown has been a children's non-fiction editor and writer for more than 16 years. She's a keen explorer of the small worlds show more around her, whether that's watching things grow in her tiny garden, or sitting On the Plane. Or imagining what's happening On the Space Station. The amazing see-through pages in this gorgeously illustrated non-fiction series offer benefits similar to lift-the-flaps books, (that is, they're great for early development, they deal with the idea of object permanence), but our Secrets books have the added interactive dimension of the child being able to see the surface and the hidden picture at the same time. Both a visual treat and lots of fun, all of our Shine-a-Light books also offer a glossary and additional information about their subjects, making them non-fiction gift books like no other. show less
