June Vendall Clark

Clark is born in Madras, India, but grows up in Rhodesia, Her father makes a marginal living selling engineering supplies to mining outfits. She eventually marries into an abusive relationship, but tries to make it work for a long period of time. The best parts of the book, when she is not wallowing in self pity over her miserable husband, focus on her life in the Okevanga Delta amid some of the world's most breathtaking concentrations of wildlife. She loves animals and nature and this love sustains her and her writing. Her writing is first rate.… (more)
