I really enjoyed The Golden One: A Comedy. It’s a playful and satirical story about the Lumberjack Leprechauns, who have spent generations loyally following their king’s orders to search for a legendary pot of gold beneath the trees. When a new democratic leader introduces rules that stop them from cutting down trees, their whole way of life is thrown into chaos. From there, things spiral into a series of funny and absurd moments, including a costume contest to decide who should become show more their next leader.
What made the book fun for me was the way it mixes humor with satire. The situations are exaggerated and silly, but they also poke at bigger ideas about leadership, loyalty, and how people react when traditions suddenly change. Because it’s written as a play, it’s easy to imagine the characters on stage, and the dialogue keeps things lively and entertaining.
Overall, it was a light, amusing read with quirky characters and a clever premise. I could easily see this being a fun piece for a small theatre group or school production, and I appreciated the playful tone throughout. show less

This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.Like Camel cigarettes, this book is not for everyone. As the book warns early on, the absurdity is over the top. But, if you like extreme satire in the vein of Douglas Adams, this is for you. It is a very sharp indictment of the trends in education toward sensitivity and banning anything that might upset anyone by taking those themes to the very limits.

Silly Zoo Baby Mix Ups is a book that a child cannot help but join in with the reading. The child will eagerly shout out the name of each page’s animal and having motion instructions with each will sure be a fun read. Any book that rhymes is a plus for me! I look forward to sharing this book with my grandsons at Thanksgiving. Well done and a wonderful addition to a child’s home library. I received my copy of this book through LibraryThing’s early reader program.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.Maya & Waggers: I Have to Scoop What? is the first in a series by W.T. Kosmos. The recommended reading level is age 8 and up. At times, words seemed like they might challenge 8 year olds who are not strong readers; disappeared, centimeters, commotion are some of the words that may be tough for some readers. The story is fun and the use of the word poop is always a hit with this age group. It feels a bit didactic at times but does demonstrate the responsibility of pet care and ownership. Kids show more will enjoy it but nothing special here. show less
