In book 1 of the Fighting For Love series, physical therapist Lucie Miller is pining over the surgeon she works with and wishes he would see her as a woman, instead of just a colleague. After he asks for her best friend’s phone number, she’s crushed and feeling horrible about herself until her big brother’s sexy best friend walks into her office.
Injured MMA fighter Reid Andrews needs a therapist to get him back into fighting shape for his next big fight. Lucie is still the same shy, show more awkward girl he remembers, but she’s not a little kid anymore. He offers her a deal—help him get back into shape, and he’ll teach her how to gain confidence and how to seduce a man, so she can get the one she wants.
Lucie and Reid have great chemistry and fell for each other pretty quickly, but they both have their fair share of trauma and insecurities to work through, especially Lucie. Even though her naïveté was annoying at times, I loved seeing her break out of her self-imposed shell and finally greet the world with open arms.
I enjoyed Ms. Maxwell’s writing style and the snarkiness she infused in some of her characters (Lucie’s friend Vanessa was a hoot!). The pacing flowed well, but some of the sex scenes (which were super hot) were a little long for me. I don’t read sports romance often, so I wish there would’ve been a scene with Reid in the ring with an opponent. Instead, the MMA sport was only talked about, not shown.
Anyway, I definitely liked the book and would love to read more from Ms. Maxwell.

I have seen this book around and I knew I needed to check it out. Plus, it is the type of book I enjoy reading of pnr dark romance. Yep, the hype is correct that you need to check out this book. What happens in Vegas does not stay in Vegas; especially when you marry a fae king. As a dark romance reader, this book had the right amount of spice to satisfy my heat level cravings.

Just like Caiden, I instantly felt the connection between him and Bryn. Which only intensified the longer they were show more in each other's company. I love that Bryn is a strong woman that could hold her own with Caiden. Yet at the same time knew when to give up control. Caiden is definitely a dom. I am really looking forward to book two. The Dark King by Gina L. Maxwell is a winner! show less
Happy queen, happy peen
kinky chaos

Caiden Verran is about as sensitive as sandpaper. He's broody, prickly around the edges, and is as closed off as a steel door, but when Bryn Meara enters his hotel, everything changes.

The Dark King is a luscious page turner about the Dark Fae King in modern-day Las Vegas, it's the perfect mix of contemporary fantasy and I absolutely devoured it. There are dual POVs from both Caiden and Bryn, I was partial to Caiden's chapters as Bryn took a bit to grow on show more me.

There is a really great story here, which isn't necessarily the case when an erotica tag is thrown on a book. As someone who doesn't typically gravitate toward the Billionaire, BDSM-themed books, I was pleasantly surprised with how everything played out. There's a great amount of backstory tied in and I felt really captured by the plot. A few good plot twists and the whole story was quite satisfying. I will definitely be rereading this one and look forward to the next in the series!

I highly recommend reading this book if you love...
Dom/Sub spice!
Billionaire romances
Accidental marriages
Fated mates

More than five stars!

So, I loved The Dark King, but this book...this book blew me away! Like the first book, The Rebel King is a spicy paranormal romance with D/s themes. Whips...whew! Tiernan is my new book boyfriend, kthanks.

Tiernan and Fiona are written perfectly. Compared to Bryn in The Dark King, Fiona was much easier to connect to right away. She's a snarky, but vulnerable badass.
Her and Tiernan have an already established connection going into the story and I appreciated that shift show more from the fated mates trope. I'd say this lingers more in Forbidden Romance territory.
Their vulnerability becomes really apparent on page, making you able to connect to them easier. I could feel the struggle Tiernan had with the mistake he made in his past and I would've loved to have seen more written about that time in his life.
"Tiernan might come off as being no deeper than a puddle, but you know he's not as shallow as that."
Omg, and Robert! Tiernan's human best friend...I love him so, so much! The absolute best side character.

This being the second book in a series, I HIGHLY recommend reading The Dark King first, even if they are technically standalone books, as I feel like there are a ton of spoilers for the first book and you don't want to miss out on Caiden's book ;)

The Rebel King showed us deeper into the Deviant Kings world, allowing us to meet more of the others. With that little peek into Finnian's story at the end, I am salivating for the next book! December cannot come soon enough.
