E.M. Palmer

Miss Elizabeth Palmer's brother G.E.H. Palmer visited Mt. Athos in search of a spiritual guide, upon his return to London he applied to convert to Orthodox Christianity. In 1949 he was accepted, and in 1951 Elizabeth Palmer joined the church. In the 1950s-1960s they were involved in several translation projects of selections of early Church fathers, and selections of the Philokalia from Russian. Gerald (George) translated Writings from the Philokalia on Prayer of the Heart 1951; and Early Fathers from the Philokalia in 1954; both with E. Kadloubovsky. Elisabeth translated The Art of Prayer: an Orthodox Anthology in 1966 also with Ms. Kadloubovsky.
