A rather odd collection of introductions to sections of a collected volume of reprinted articles. The truly odd part was that this version preserved the references and other stylistic formatting from the original version, which make little sense here. Still, several of the pieces are of pithy interest on its assigned topic, although I would hesitate to heavily cite to this particular source.
This was a very boring read. That said, it probably wasn't meant to be read cover-to-cover by a non-academic "layman" .
Its useful in explaining how Durkheim's ideas about religion have been influential or criticized in the past century.
