- Maria Anna Potocka, née Socha, was born in Paczków, Poland. She the author of numerous articles and books on art history, philosophy of art, and aesthetics. She is an art critic, curator, theoretician, and historian. She has served as director of the Bunkier Sztuki Gallery of Contemporary Art in Kraków and the MOCAK Museum of Contemporary Art in Kraków. From 1988 to 1994, she was the editor of the artistic and philosophical magazine Tumult.
