- Short biography
- Tonoy Rahman is a textile engineer, Shia theologist, and scholar of Persian mystical literature from Dhaka, Bangladesh. He has a complete mastery of Urdu, Persian, and Arabic. He reads Hafez, Rumi, Saadi, Khayyam, and Attar in their original Persian.
His scholarly monograph The Influence of Shi'ism in Sufi Literature/ সুফি সাহিত্যে শিয়া প্রভাব (Bengali, 2025) examines how Shia theology shaped Persian mysticism from the 8th to 14th centuries.
He has recently published his debut literary fantasy novel, THE EVER-CHANGING SANDS, set in 11th-century Islamic Persia. The novel explores themes of resistance, theodicy, and moral complexity—for readers who love Guy Gavriel Kay and S.A. Chakraborty. - Nationality
