This short biography of Mother Teresa begins with her humble childhood in Albania and follows her as she becomes a nun. While performing her duties she felt convinced that God had a new mission for her. She set out to help the poor in India where she worked. She broke the normal rules that nuns before followed, and created her own order, The Missionaries of Charity. The book includes many pictures and quotes from Mother Teresa and people that she touched during her life.

This moving book made me reflect on my own life. Reading about how one woman set out to help those less fortunate made me feel guilty that I do not do more to help those in my own community that are less fortunate than me.

As a classroom activity, I would ask my students what they could do to make their community a better place. Then I would challenge them go out and do it.
