DescriptionsEdit Descriptions
- The National Publishing Company attempted, shortly after the cessation of hostilities in 1918, to compile brief biographies of as many British participants in the war as possible. The vast majority of entries refer to combatants who survived the war or Special War Workers such as munitions workers, and is often the only source of information available. Fourteen volumes were completed on a regional basis. According to the Imperial War Museum library catalogue: "The first fourteen volumes were produced and deposited at the British Library between 1920 and 1922. Volume XIV was received with a note explaining that the publisher had gone into liquidation. The index was published by The Naval and Military Press in 2002." (English, Unclassified)
