- For the first sixteen issues of its existence, 1931-1935, the B.C.Q. was "the official organ of the First Edition Club, an international association of bibliophiles, membership of which is open to accredited collectors" (No. V, Jan.-March 1932). A final (XVIIth) part was published privately by A. J. A. Symons, one of the editors, for April-June 1935, after Cassell and Co. Ltd pulled out. “Having no distribution organisation [Symons] did not sell very many, which is why this swan song is now so scarce” (Desmond Flower, 'The Book Collector’s Quarterly, 1930-1933', The Private Library, third series, vol. 1, Spring 1978, pp. 39-48).
