The music world lost a treasure in Pavarotti and now the literary world has lost a gem in Madeleine L'Engle. Her creative thinking and character development will be sorely missed by this reader.

the sound of soft tears shed.
I read Wrinkle in Time in fourth grade, and it is one of those books that changed my life.
For my daughter's graduation, we gave her an autographed copy of aWiT.

A great loss indeed. My wife and I both love her Two-Part Invention. I think my personal favorite is Many Waters.
Has anyone ever asked whether she was a significant influence on Jo Rowling? Harry's final solution to Voldy certainly recalls Meg's focus of love to save her father in aWiT.

Rest in Peace indeed. Who in this group isn't familiar with her work? A true giant in the field.

I just read the Time Quartet earlier this year, having originally read A Wrinkle in Time when I was a child. Her originality, her voice and her morality will certainly be missed.

I have a sort of autobiography of hers on her marriage and love in my TBR pile. Think I'll go get it out to read in honor of her. I've only read the Wrinkle in Time series, but I loved it.

What a sad week. AWIT was one of my favourite books as a child, and probably my first exposure to scifi.

As I said in another thread, her words sang to me. I always felt she saw deeper than most people. My favorite was A Swiftly Tilting Planet.

I haven't a clue as to how many times I've read the Time books. I know I enjoyed them every single time.

*Toast* to a great author, and the enjoyment her books gave me and many others.

My daughters and I are reading A Wrinkle in Time for the Nth time in memory of this wondrous author. How many others are doing the same?
