For your June, 2016, TIOLI challenge, we're having a contest for the happiest face on a book cover. You MUST follow the rules. Those rules are listed here (main thread of June 2016 TIOLI).

Please list your book and show the book cover as you begin this challenge.
Post your book's status here as well: TO BE READ, Reading, or COMPLETED

After the month of June is over, we will have a contest/vote to see which book cover pictures the happiest face. This contest is international. A very small prize will be awarded after the vote is taken.

In the event that two people list the same book, the first person to list that book will win the very small prize. This is all in fun...so enjoy!

Here's my entry...

The Danish Girl by David Ebershoff

Status: COMPLETED

Note: My entry is not eligible for the prize since I am sponsoring the contest, but you can vote for it later anyway. I usually ask for the top three and pick the book with the most overall votes.

Since others are also reading this book, we can vote on whoever is the top person who reads it and posts the picture here.

It's optimistic to think I'll get to this one this month, but if I do it certainly qualifies:

The First King of Hollywood : the Life of Douglas Fairbanks by Tracey Goessel

Status: TBR

(BTW Madeline: your link to "The Danish Girl" points to Harry Potter. Sounds like another casting scandal to me!)

>7 swynn: I fixed that errant touchstone. Thanks!

I know mine doesn't have a chance against The Danish Girl, but the woman on my cover looks happily determined:

>9 susanna.fraser: The picture is not showing up. Can you check why? Thx!

ETA: I can see it now!

I'm joining in the read for The Danish Girl but here's one that I think fits very well, too:

Why Be Happy When You Could Be Normal? by Jeanette Winterson

Not quite in the spirit of the rest, I'm afraid, but the best my TBR will yield! (And just to clarify, that's a logo in the square, not a second individual.)

Seeds Of Murder by Frederick Van Wyck Mason

Young bride's story 2 by Kaoru Mori

She is happy because she just hunted a wild goat and brings it back to her husband to make a feast.

I just picked up The Danish Girl this evening. For some reason, the touchstone keeps going to Harry Potter... Grrrr.... anyhow, not sure this is still needed since I see Madeline posted the cover above, but I'm posting it just in case.

I completed two books about animals so far this month, and find the animals on the covers both look happy:

Are We Smart Enough to Know How Smart Animals Are? by Frans de Waal

The Bedside Book of Beasts: A Wildlife Miscellany by Graeme Gibson
