Cross My Heart is the first book in the Ty and Hunter series and it can be read as stand-alone. It was almost a perfect book, but the part of the epilogue about Hunter ruined it for me a little. Ty and Lacey had a lovely story and they were a great couple. I loved their journey and the author did a great job with it. The story was good and it even had some suspense thrown into my liking. I wanted a redemption to happen and I am glad it did even if in real life things wouldn't have been so easy.

Hunter and Molly's book is been slowly set up in the background and I liked that. Maybe background is the wrong word since the book has multiple point of views in it and not just Ty and Lacey's. That ended up been a little frustrating because it show more took away from the main characters, even if it gave us a better understanding of the secondary characters. The good thing is that I was sold on the idea that Lacey and Ty loved each other for 10 years and I didn't feel like there wasn't enough room for them to fall in love with each other and that's why I would recommend the book. show less
Enjoyed the premise of the book that high school love can be real but like many of the chick-lit books it took forever to move forward. A lot of thinking about the past. Enjoyed the characters of Lilly/Lacey and Ty and how they could still care about each other after all the time that past. Liked the mystery of who was trying to murder and knew there was more to the uncle's story. Thought Hunter played the part of a true friend and look forward to next book about him.
An okay read, read well: The best thing about the audio edition of this book is reader Marie Caliendo's pacing and vocal characterizations. Ms. Caliendo takes her time rendering this predictable, riches-to-rags-to-riches story. Her vocal characterizations lent interest to otherwise one-dimensional, underdeveloped participants. The shamelessly open ending almost screams "sequel!," but if Marie Caliendo is the reader, I'd consider getting it.
Cross My Heart is a well rounded blend of storytelling. Phillips welcomes readers into a world as intriguing as it is heartbreaking. Ty and Lily are a love interrupted before it had even began. Desperation separated them before their feelings could ever be more. Ten years later fate finds a way to reunite them. Will the outcome be different this time around? Cross My Heart is a tale of friendship and family. For Ty, Hunter and Lily love is more than a feeling. It's a way of life.

What I was expecting from Cross My Heart was a quick, simple read, something you could take to the beach and have it finished by the time you were ready to come home - except it was far to cold for the beach today - so I had to settle for my comfy chair. I got what I expected. It took me all of 5 hours to finish the book. The plot and dialog were simple. I did enjoyed the characters. Lacey and Ty had tons of chemistry. I am really looking forward to reading Molly and Hunter’s story which is in the follow-up book, Sealed With A Kiss.
As a teenager, with the help of her two best friends Ty and Hunter, Lillian Dumont faked her own death and disappeared into the mass of New York City. At the time she wanted to get away from her abusive, alcoholic uncle who was her guardian since the death of her wealthy parents. Ten years later Ty gets in touch with her to come back as her uncle is in the process of having her declared legally dead and claim her inheritance. Thus begins this cute, sexy, tale of friendship, rebirth, and forgiveness.
Lilly, Ty and Hunter fake Lilly's death when they were teenagers so that she could escape her abusive uncle (and guardian). 10 years later, he uncle is going to declare her dead to get her inheritance... and she comes back to town to stop him. However, she's in danger, as attempts are being made on her life. Thru this all, the romance between Lilly and Ty is pretty hot. This book is a little bit of a departure for Ms. Phillips... it's more serious than her past works. I really enjoyed it and hope that a sequel will be made for Hunter and his love-interest (that was introduced in this book). Highly recommend!
