I really enjoyed reading this story. I liked everything about it, from the illustrations to the storyline.
The illustrations went perfectly with the sentences on each page. I was able to read the lines and then look at the pictures and see exactly what I just read. For example, when the students were looking for the leprechauns outside under the slide and could not find him. I could tell in the picture that the students were disappointed with not finding the leprechauns by the way they were drawn with their expressions.
I thought the storyline was perfect for students in grades 1-2, which was the recommended age group. The sentences were point on for that age group. The sentences were mainly dialogues, which made the reading more show more interesting by giving life to the story. The context of the story was age appropriate as well. The story was about a typical classroom of students celebrating St. Patrick’s Day and them believing that leprechauns are real.
The main point that I took away from this story was to never stop believing in something that makes you happy. The little boy started the story off so excited for St. Patrick’s Day and leprechauns. At one point he was disappointed thinking leprechauns were not real, until he found gold coins that made him believe again. show less
