Description
Our country is facing a leadership crisis, with fewer leaders available than are needed. Even more distressing, the church is facing the same crisis. Failures in church leadership seem to be at an epidemic level, reminding us of the adage, "As the leaders go, so go the people." With so much at stake, how can we raise up effective leaders who have genuine and lasting impact on their charge? Author John MacArthur writes on more than 60 traits every leader needs. These elements of character show more form the framework from which MacArthur details the qualifications and responsibilities of effective leaders, no matter if they are full-time staff members or Christians seeking to serve God at church, home, work, and with friends. show lessTags

John MacArthur does an excellent job in this book delving into the life of Paul, and drawing out priciples of spiritual leadership. I took some issue with some things he said in the introduction regarding using worldly examples of leadership, however, I understand the point he was trying to make. Later in the book, he actually does use some secular examples to illustrate the biblical point he is making.
I get the impression that this book was written in response to John Maxwell's leadership books. I think it rather makes a good companion volume to them.
The portion of the book that deals with Paul's shipwreck on Malta was especially interesting. Besides gaining some good insights about leadership, I also leared a lot I did not know about show more first-century navigation.

Uses Acts and the life of Paul as a model for Biblical leadership. Far superior to most Christian leadership books.
A good practical book on biblical leadership.
A scriptural approach to leadership - refreshing! Well done.
